Gum disease affects most people at some time during their life. It is usually caused by a build-up of plaque on teeth. One of the most common signs of gum disease is bleeding gums. Other symptoms include:
- Bad breath that won’t go away
- Red or swollen gums
- Painful chewing
- Loose teeth
- Sensitive teeth
The early stage of gum disease is called Gingivitis. If left untreated, the disease may progress and cause more damage to your oral health, which is then called Periodontitis.
